PRIMARY LEARNING POD
The Barnyard Classroom is excited to offer a Grades 1–3 learning pod for the September 2026 school year, led by a certified Ontario teacher. Designed for families seeking a smaller, nurturing learning environment, our pod blends strong academic foundations with hands-on, experiential learning rooted in nature and real-life skills.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE & SCHEDULE
Our Grades 1–3 Learning Pod operates four days per week, Monday through Thursday, following a gentle, predictable rhythm that follwos the seasons and supports deep learning and emotional well-being. Days are thoughtfully structured with a balance of focused academic work, hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and critical thinking.
Families may choose full-time or part-time attendance, allowing flexibility while maintaining consistency for children. Small group sizes ensure each child is known, supported, and able to move through learning at an appropriate pace.
OUR LEARNING APPROACH

Learning at The Barnyard Classroom is rooted in curiosity, connection, and purposeful work. Our program blends Montessori-inspired independence, Waldorf-influenced rhythm and storytelling, and nature-based experiential learning.

Children engage in meaningful academic work through hands-on materials, real-world experiences, storytelling, movement, art, and time outdoors. Literacy and numeracy are taught intentionally and developmentally, while also allowing space for creativity, imagination, and problem-solving.

Guided by a certified Ontario teacher, learning unfolds in a calm, respectful environment that values the whole child — head, heart, and hands.
TUITION & FEES
Tuition reflects the small group size, certified teaching staff, and the rich, hands-on nature of the program. Fees include core learning materials, outdoor learning experiences, and program resources.

Tuition is $65 per day, with the program operating four days per week (Monday–Thursday). The learning pod runs for 10 months of the year, from September through June, and follows the Durham District School Board (DDSB) calendar. The program is closed during Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Break.

Full-time and part-time attendance options are available. Detailed enrolment and payment information will be shared with interested families during the admissions process.
